Gameloft releases first trailer for N.O.V.A 3, coming soon for Android, iOS

Gameloft has just made fans of N.O.V.A , a first person shooter game for Android and iOS, very happy by releasing the first ever trailer for N.O.V.A 3. This extremely popular shooter has been well received by mobile gamers and is currently one of the best games available on both platforms. The new instalment will feature a bumped up graphics engine which looks stunning, to say the least. Gameloft claims that the video in the trailer is all in-game footage which means you’re going to need a serious GPU to run this game. We’re thinking a Tegra 3 based phone or tablet would be a good place to start.

Gameloft haven’t revealed the pricing or release date but they have stated it will launch for iOS and Android, hopefully at the same time. Going by their previous pricing of the game, we’d reckon it would cost around $6.99. N.O.V.A 2 is still one of the best first person shooters in the market and which despite it’s good graphics, is also very scalable so it runs smoothly even on single-core 1GHz smartphones. Given the popularity of dual-core and now quad-core phones, we hope N.O.V.A 3 is optimised well enough so it scales well with more number of cores. While Gameloft claim that it’s in-game footage, it’s probably a video that’s rendered in real-time using the games engine, we doubt that the actually gameplay would look that good. We could be wrong though. Notice how there’s not a single jagged edge when the close up of the pilot is shown, which clearly points to a video rendered in real-time. We’re not saying today’s GPUs aren’t powerful but they aren’t this good either, at least for now.

According to Gameloft, this will be their next blockbuster release and we hope it comes in time for summer. So, who’s excited?
