Hope you have some salt ready because here comes another “Galaxy S II leak”. Earlier on in the day, we reported how the Galaxy S 3’s thumbnail image popped up in Samsung’s own software and now we have the supposed service manual of the phone, well just a page from it anyways. This made its way in to the hands of SamMobile, an extremely popular site for downloading official firmware. The service manual states the model number along with the specs of the phone and more importantly, a sketch of the GT-I9300. The sketch looks very similar to the live photos of the GT-I9300 we saw a few days back, if you peel away the outer casing. The heavily rounded edges at the bottom look very similar to those pictures. I think it’s safe to assume that this is indeed the S III or S 3 and if not, it’s one of the most elaborate hoaxes we’ve seen in a while.
The supposed manual
The second picture shows the back cover of the phone which has the standard cut-out for the camera and two small cut-outs on either side, which could point to a dual LED flash arrangement. This also confirms that the S 3 will have a removable back cover unlike the HTC One X. The specifications reflect the rumours we’ve been hearing about the S 3, except for the screen. The picture claims it will have a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED MIPI screen.
The back cover
We assumed so far that the S 3 would have a screen size similar to the Galaxy Nexus but it seems it will be nearing Galaxy Note territory. It appears the phone will stick with an 8MP shooter but we hope the sensor is one of those BSI sensors, like in the iPhone 4S. We have exactly a week left before the Unpacked event unfolds in London so we’ll know soon enough. Something tells us that the S 3 probably won’t blow us away in terms of design, so we hope Samsung makes good with the pricing at the very least.
