The iPad 2, even in the light of the ‘New iPad’ (a rather un-original name) is still as popular a device, as ever. Gaming on the Apple tablet has only gotten better and with the launch of the upgraded device, the level of gaming in this field has also risen considerably. But not everyone, as much as they’d like to, can afford the high-end games that are available and that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of alternatives. With that sentiment in mind, here are a few free and fun games you should download for the iPad. They’re action-packed and fun to play and will certainly help while away those bored moments. A fun top view game that has you playing an old-school styled gangster, Don Marconi, running amok collecting “dough” from the main street bank. Of course, it isn’t going to be easy getting your bags of “moolah” to your getaway pickup truck (would have expected a sedan), as other thugs and all over you trying to get their grubby hands on your hard-stolen cash. A variety of modes, including Survival, Defend and Attack also help liven up your game play. Visuals are great for the cartoon loving fans. You can upgrade your weapons to make your enemies' lives a whole lot more painful and collect playing cards that help you gain access and unlock more areas and locations in the game. Who says crime doesn’t pay. Make them an offer they wouldn't refuse The previous edition of this game, i.e. Falling Fred was just as entertaining as this one. With Running Fred, the developers, Dedalord has taken the action up a notch. Running Fred is a fast-paced third person runner that requires you to stay on the ball with your character. Your reflexes and co-ordination are challenged with this game and the action only gets better as you go further into it. If Fred don’t run, then Fred is Dead! Run Fred or you'll end up Dead! From the Glu studios, here’s another action-packed game with plenty of gunfire and mayhem. The graphics are great for this level of gaming and the action is quite speedy with a very balanced control system. Like Contract Killer: Zombies, Front Line Commando also has a store that allows you to purchase and upgrade weapons. You can earn money by completing levels and or signing up to a variety of Glu services or downloading more games, etc. You also have the option of buying Gold, etc. using your credit card for further upgrades. Nevertheless, FLC is quite a well designed game that’s entertaining enough with just the basics as well. A one man army tking on the enemy Monster Mayhem This finger sliding hack and slash game is a ton of gruesome fun, as you try to protect your little gate to keep the monster army at bay. With plenty of levels to unlock and a variety of goofy looking monsters to hack, slash, riddle with bullets and burn, Monster Mayhem is as entertaining as they come. Although the graphics are simple enough, the visuals are colourful and the blood splatter does add that little extra to an overall fun game to play. You also have the option of upgrading your arsenal, as the game progresses and the monsters get more intense and larger in number. Roger Rattlebone and the Frankenstein monster are particularly funny. Kill the Monsters! Although it might not have the most captivating name this third person shooter is yet another action-packed game in the Zombie craze mobile gaming section. The story goes like this, Zombies are attacking fairytale kingdoms and it’s your job to, surprise surprise, destroy them all. This shoot ‘em up Manga-styled game has made its way to iOS from the Wii and the gameplay proves to be quite a lot of mindless fun. The characters are well designed and gamplay control, although it’ll take a little getting used to, it is quite a bit of fun. I wonder if they’ll make a movie on this – Zombies in Wonderland. Sounds interesting enough. Don't Panic, Zombie killers to the rescue The App Store has plenty more where these came from and although these are free, there are plenty of low priced games that are just as entertaining and quite affordable. |
